What is Thai curry


Thai curry is one of the most used staple ingredient in Thai cuisine. Usually sweeter than Indian Curry, Thai curry incorporates local ingredients such as chili peppers, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass and galangal to bring much more Thai flavour to the traditional curry taste.

3 main types of Thai curries:
Yellow Curry - Mildly spicy. Made from yellow chillies and turmeric.
Red Curry - Medium spicy. Made from red chillies and tomato paste.
Green Curry - Very spicy. Made from green chillies, Thai basil and coriander which gives it's green color

Where to try great Thai food in Berlin:
Bangkok Bites on Schönhauser Allee in Prenzlauerberg which opened just before the lockdown serves very authentic Thai food with moderate price.
Kin Dee in Mitte earned it's first Michelin star in 2019. It is a fine dining experience of Thai cuisine.
Samakki Talad Thai in Charlottenburg is at the other end of the dining spectrum with very inexpensive street food experience in a bare minimum interior but with great food.
